Dax Mausoleum

Stone-built mausoleum of neo-classical style comprising pitched roof having pedimented entrance front with square-headed doorway within a simple architrave having single-leaf metal door.  Flight of steps descending to the vault below.  Vault now partially submerged by encroaching ground levels.

The inscription on the mausoleum reads "In memory of Catherine Buckbridge widow of Thomas Dax Esq, Master of the Court of Exchequer, died April 9th 1866 at Sparrows Herne House, aged 70. Also Harriet Anne, wife of Owen T. Alger Esq, of Rosedale, Bushey Heath, who died January 30th 1858 aged 48".

Condition

The stonework looks all right but the iron door is in a poor state (2006).
